The BandSoup.com Project

Note: Any re-tweet, facebook post, email, or way of sharing this information/website is much appreciated. The ideas we have for this open, free, and pro-independent artist music site are very exciting to us and we are going to rely on heavy grassroots, word-of-mouth "marketing" to spread the good word. If you are an artist yourself, a rabid music fan with an open mind and ear, or know someone that is a musician-- tell them about us.

2011 is already shaping up to be my greatest year in my 28 years of living. How's that opening sentence for the world's most cynical independent hip hop blogger?

One of the main reasons is because I get to continue my work for BandSoup.com (programming, main website, blog, etc.) and help them achieve their 2011 goals after we received an exciting grant from the government. This grant is going to allow the BandSoup team to smooth out the website's interface, user experience, and will allow the site to take on the numerous creative ideas we came up with to improve on the initial idea.

If you are a rapper, producer, in a band (any genre), or consider yourself an avid music listener, I encourage you to visit the website, bookmark the affiliated blog, and/or upload/share your music with the thousands already in the BandSoup community around the world.

Please, check out/bookmark the site (the blog is currently being re-done and will have a new look in a few days). We appreciate anyone that signs up for an account as a listener and/or an artist as we continue to tweak and improve our system. If you have any questions, comments, or feedback please send an e-mail to ryan@bandsoup.com and I will forward it to the rest of the team.

Artists: To upload a song (or more), click here and sign up for an account (very fast, we only ask for an email) and then you can upload freely. Any artist that uploads at last one track is put on the main website and has the opportunity to be featured on the BandSoup blog.

Thank you to all that read WhiskeyTeeth and to the indie artists I'm always rooting for,
Ryan

The gatekeepers have fallen and the corporate filters have been removed. Now, all music can be discovered, shared, downloaded, promoted, and heard directly by the audience and the artists themselves. This democratization of the music industry, combined with technological advances in music equipment and recording, makes for an exciting time for music fans and artists alike.
Instead of the same four labels, traditional media outlets, and subjective gatekeepers telling us what we should want, we, the people, have direct access to all forms of creative inspiration and musical creations that can inspire and open our minds to new sounds and experiences. It's now OUR choice and OUR music.
Although the future of this new era is still unclear, what we do know is more people throughout the world have greater access to create, consume, and share music than ever before. This has allowed music participation to return to its primal roots where music was somethingeveryone, not just professionals and signed acts, participated in as part of their daily routine.
BandSoup does not wish to be a gatekeeper or a filter; instead, we wish to engage with experienced and un-experienced artists and fans on a daily basis and form a free, simple, and fun music community that everyone can enjoy. Artists upload their latest songs into theSoup Bowl, then listeners point and play. It's that simple. Songs can be saved, shared, or listened to anytime, anywhere.
BandSoup is not an archive of the past, it's a continuous flow of "now" music.
