Poems and Dust- Lonestar

Former LA Symphony MC Sareem Poems has teamed up with one half of Mars ILL, DJ Dust, to bring us a new twelve track project Dirty Words. The album, which was released in early October via Bandcamp, features Sareem's passionate preaching plastered over an array of rock and roll and soul laced beats from Dust.

I first discovered 8thW1 in 2007 after getting a hold of his future classic debut LP, Love, Money and Music, and have been hooked ever since. 8th's nonchalant nerd-swag has always mixed well with mellow production and my theory proves correct on his latest project with drummer/composer/producer Pat Van Dyke. PVD and 8thW1's new EP, Lux DeVille, showcases the talented New Jersey bred MC connecting more with his emotions than witty punchlines over a streamline of colorful keys, crisp drum breaks, and a myriad of horn loops that will have true schoolers drooling.

The EP will be available as a free download for a limited time only for one week and then will be available on iTunes. Spotted at PHIMB.

Blu- Keep It Going ft. U-God (Prod. Flying Lotus)

A little splash of Blu peeks out on this grey autumn day with a random twitter drop from HerFavColor.

Edit: I kept the summary of the track short because I had daily duties to attend to, but I also had no idea about a lot of background information on Blu, this track, and what has been going on with everyone's favorite indie rapper since the turn of 2010. Andrew Martin over at Prefix does, so read on:

It's not quite clear when Blu's long-awaited solo album, NoYork!, will actually come out. But what we do know is that he's been touring the country and playing new tracks with a live band. And the band has had the challenge of tackling compositions by Flying Lotus, Samiyam, and others as they are the producers behindNoYork!. Now, it's also not quite clear where this latest leak, "Keep It Going," will end up, but it's sounding like it could fit into that production aesthetic. The beat is a hazy, noisy romp from FlyLo that allows Blu to remain subdued and mellow throughout the track, which also features Wu-Tang Clan member U-God.
